History of Siddha Sakthi ArutJothi Vallalar Kalvi Nilayam

The History of Nilayam dates back to the year 1950. The place where it is situated is at the junction of two rivulets. In one of the rivulets, Water will always be flowing out of earth from the springs present just about 600 ft ahead from the institution at that time. The place is fertile because of the rivulets. This place is called Kairlabad.

Saint Thavathiru Muruganda Adigal, who is the disciple of Vadalur Ramalinga Adigalar, came there and was doing prayers to God. When he was developing the place for his activities, he found one Vinayagar statue and two Lingam statues from the ground when digging the earth. He offered prayers to those idols. As these idols were found from this place, this place is named as Lingathadimedu.

Because of his religious activities, more and more devotees visited this place and made offerings to Adigalar. With these offerings, he used to feed about 6 poor and destitute children who resided near Lingathadimedu. He used to offer poojas called Jothi Vazhipadu in the evenings on Mondays and Fridays as was being done by Vadalur Ramalinga adigalaar. He used all the offerings received from the devotees to feed the children.

As time passed by, Adigalar sent an invitation to Mr K. R. Viswanathan(KRV), who was the Member of Legislative Assembly from Jayamkondam Constituency, through one of his devotees Mr M. K. Periya Samy Pulavar. Then when KRV met him for the first time he requested him to start a home for the poor and destitute children in that location and thus initiated the action to start the orphange. Mr K. R. Viswanathan first told him that it is a Himalayan task to run an orphange. Adigalaar persuaded him saying that feeding the poor destitute children is God’s duty and if we do our selfless serivice in that direction everything would be done by God. Thus the Sidha Sakthi Arut Jothi Vallalar Kalvi Nilayam, a NGO was born.

The Sidha Sakthi Arut Jothi Vallalar Kalvi Nilayam was registered as a society in the year 1954. It all started as a elementary school and an orphanage with 8 children.
